Houston, TX, July 7, 2009 — The VIA Group, a leading provider of communications systems, software and services, and Gold Business Partner for both Avaya and Microsoft, recently expanded it’s coverage in the Southwest U.S. The addition of an expanded team in Texas provides customers with more support to discover, design, deploy and support cost-effective, integrated solutions that increase productivity and profitability.

Heading up the Sales Team are two highly professional and successful new members. Tommy Tatum, Senior Account Executive, who will build upon VIA’s capabilities focusing on the business requirements and integration of applications for customers in North Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Tatum comes to The VIA Group after serving as Sales Director for Avaya where he negotiated complex agreements for large enterprise customers, managed a sales team covering a seven state area, and had responsibility for sales, strategy and growth of the territory.

In addition to Tatum, Karen Oswald has joined The VIA Group as Senior Account Executive covering Houston, San Antonio and South Texas. Oswald will have the responsibility for direct and indirect sales of VoIP, PBX, Unified Communications, Conferencing and Professional Services solutions that enable customers to automate and unify all forms of communications to increase efficiency and optimize business processes. Oswald comes to The VIA Group after serving as Global Account Manager for Avaya where she focused on global accounts within the energy markets. Oswald spent 27 years with AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Avaya holding various positions in the sales organization with specializations in government, education and energy.

From a technical perspective, two highly skilled experts join the team. Scott Young, Senior Technical Specialist, who will focus on helping customers deploy integrated solutions that result in improved efficiencies. Prior to joining VIA, Young had worked at Microsoft where he had responsibility for all the hardware and presenter deployments on the “Across America” truck team. He also spent two years as a Technician at the Ohio Casualty Group where he had responsibility for day to day technical support and was the project lead on the deployment of Windows XP and Active Directory. Prior to that, he spent two years as a Sr. Instructor at the Cleveland Institute of Electronics where he designed courses in IT and programming and taught a range of courses including Math, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Also joining the technical team is Anne Jones, Unified Communications Manager who is a well known industry expert in unified communications. Jones has more than 25 years of experience as a strategic thought leader in the unified communications discipline with a background in Nortel, AT&T/Lucent/Avaya. Her extensive background in technology and track record of implementing solutions that show a positive return on investment will enable customers to realize the most value from their IT investments.
