David Corl - Vice President of Channel Business

I co-founded The Via Group with my business partner Kevin Carswell in 1990. I have been self-employed for 30 years of my professional career, but worked briefly for two local Phone companies before starting my own (Criterion Telephone and National Communications).

Personal Information:

I live in Montgomery, Texas with my beautiful wife Linda. I have two boys living in Austin and a step-daughter in Bryan. Two beautiful grandchildren occupy the majority of my family time.

What was your first job?

REAL job (besides mowing lawns)? I worked at James Coney Island as a pot-scrubber at age 14, worked my way up the ranks from dishwasher to hot-dog-slinger on the serving line and finally to cashier (cha-ching!).

I have the following pet(s):

A very sweet Border Collie (Tashie) who is very old and very lovable. Also 22 ducks that have us trained to twice-daily feedings.

My hobbies and passions are:

When I have time – Fishing (Saltwater) and Hunting (Upland Game Birds & Waterfowl). My weekend passion is researching historic towns in Texas and making side trips to explore the area.

Children's Cancer Research and the Alzheimer's Foundation

Functional / Technical Skills:

Long-time entrepreneur (I started at age 9 by selling seeds door-to-door). Mainly a sales background, but I can get very technical when it enhances my selling abilities. Good team-builder and manager.

Three things that many people don't know about me:

I am a Mind Game and Brain Teaser fanatic, I still prefer Film Photography over Digital and I have flown in the Goodyear Blimp.
